Buyer FAQs

There is more that goes on behind the scenes of an auction than most people realize.

Taking photographs, designing advertising and catalogues, navigating complex software, and developing marketing strategies are just some of the many tasks an auction company handles every day. At Black and Gold Auctions, we make use of our experience and expertise in the auction industry so bidders are prepared to pay the best price and compete for your items online or in a live public venue on auction day.

We include value estimations in our services.

If you need a valuation for insurance, divorce, estate, court, or business purposes, just send us an email at info@blackandgoldauctions.com! We can do it all, including: buy your real estate, sell your real estate, and sell all furnishings quickly and for fair prices.

We have our FFL and are more than happy to sell your firearms! Just sent us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

With today’s technology, there is more than one way to hold an auction, and we can help you decide which format best fits your needs. It could be an online auction or a live public event.

We currently offer:

  • - Real Estate: Homes, land, farms, investment properties
  • - Personal property: Cars, trucks, tractors, tools, equipment, household, collectibles
  • - Estate liquidation: Property cleanout, property buyouts, consignment auctions
  • - Onsite auctions: Traditional and online auctions on location
  • - Weekly Wednesday online consignment auction from our warehouse
  • - Specialty: Coins, guns, fine jewelry, gold, silver, & much more

We charge a buyer’s premium for online auctions of 10%. Be sure to read the terms of each online auction for the buyer’s premium, preview dates, and pick up times, dates, and locations.

Whether you have one item or a whole house full, you can convert your items to cash through the weekly consignment auction. Black and Gold Auctions hosts Weekly Wednesday Auctions every week, year round, unless noted for an event or holiday that would greatly disrupt the listing or pick-up process.

Yes! We accept absentee and alternate bids. Please take your bid card to the cashier at a live auction and let them know what you would like to bid on. We will call you after the auction if you won your item(s). If you cannot place a bid online for an auction, please see the cashier to assist you.

Yes! Previews for our auctions are held on the Wednesday the auction closes from 1pm to 5pm. You are also able to preview the auction during our pick-up hours on Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 5pm.

For customers unable to view the auction during normal previewing hours you may email info@blackandgoldauctions.com and we will be happy to try and accommodate the request. Please understand that our warehouse is limited on space and employees will be working on the auction floor, so we cannot always allow customers to roam and view the entire auction. If you have a specific item(s) that you are considering, we will always try our best to accommodate you.

No, you cannot register online without a credit card. We use credit cards for security purposes to verify a bidder’s identity. Registering with a credit card is for our security, the seller’s, and yours to prevent fraudulent bidders. The online software that we use has security measures in place to protect your credit card information and we do not have direct access to your information.

We use two primary software including Auction Flex and HiBid. Auction Flex links directly in to HiBid. HiBid maintains full PCI compliance from beginning to end. They use up-to-date SSL certificates on all pages dealing with a bidders’ personal information or bidding. “When we retain the credit card information for your use, we maintain full PCI compliance on our servers.” (You can read more about PCI compliance here.)

A maximum bid placed online works similar to an absentee bid at a live auction. The feature is very convenient if you don’t want to watch the auction the whole time and you don’t have to increase your bid when someone outbids you, the software does it for you. If you submit the highest amount you are willing to pay for a lot, the software will place the next highest bid when someone outbids you up to your maximum amount. Other bidders cannot see how much your maximum bid is and your bid is only increased if you are outbid, so you may get an item/lot for less than your maximum bid. If there is a reserve amount on an item, the software will increase your bid until the reserve is met. We rarely use reserves on lots and you will always know if there is a reserve required before you bid online. In the case of a tie maximum bid, the bidder who entered the amount first will be the winning bidder, just like in a live auction.

We will email you your winning bids and an invoice within 24 hours of the auction end. You can also view your winning bids through the HiBid website. You will click on your name in the menu, and then click on "Past Bids". This will lead you to a page that will show you all bids you have both lost and won in our auctions.

Yes! We offer in-house packing and shipping of our items.

If you want us to ship your items, please forward your invoice to our shipping department at shipping@blackandgoldauctions.com. Packing and shipping will be handled in-house on smaller items.

For exceptionally heavy, fragile, awkward, or those that consist of large numbers of items, such as sets of dishes, the packing charge will be based on the amount of materials and labor required. The actual cost of the postage will be added to the packing charge to determine the total shipping charge. You always have the option of picking up your items at our office, or having someone pick up the items for you. Just let us know as we pack and ship the beginning of the next week after the auction close.

Our carriers of choice are FedEx Ground and USPS, whichever is most economical. If you have other shipping preferences, please let us know and we will try to accommodate them.

Please understand our shipping rates entirely depend on the requirements of the carriers. If you have any questions about our shipping policies, please feel free to call or email shipping@blackandgoldauctions.com.

Claims for items broken during the shipping process will need to be filed by us, so please reach out to the shipping department if your item has been damaged in transit.

Payment is expected on the day of pickup for online auctions and the day of the auction for live events. We accept cash, credit cards, and certified checks. Local buyers can use credit cards, cash, or personal check. Nothing will be removed from the auction site until it is paid for.

If you wish to make payment arrangements other than the credit card on file for shipped orders, we ask that you contact Black and Gold Auctions upon receipt of the invoice by email or phone. We will be happy to work with you in that way.

If an item has not been picked up by the 12pm on the Saturday following the end of an auction, an additional late pick up fee of $25 will be added to your order and the card on file with HiBid will be charged the full amount. If payment cannot be collected by this time, the items will automatically become forfeit and will be relisted in the next auction.

We make every attempt to contact the buyer and schedule a pick-up time or shipment. Items purchased in online auctions and not picked up by 12pm Saturday following the close of the auction will incur a $25 late pick up fee and charged to the card on file with HiBid. Items will be held for 10 days, after which the item(s) will become the property of Black and Gold Auctions and will be resold at auction or disposed of with no refund issued. You are still liable for your bids even if you do not claim your items.

You are not able to remove bids that have been placed. If you are the winning bidder, you assume responsibility for said items. Please reach out before bidding on items if you are unsure or if you have questions.

All items are sold AS IS and with NO WARRANTY. It is the bidder's responsibility to determine the condition of the items and bid accordingly. Even if an item is listed as new in box, all items must be considered as previously owned/used. We cannot guarantee the item will be in full retail condition. If an item has been guaranteed by the consignor or listed as tested, then a refund will be issued.

We use the leading software system in the industry to keep track of every item we auction to the highest bidder and every person that does business with us.

As a bidder, you don’t have to wait for the auction to end at a live auction to pay for your item. As soon as you win the highest bid on an item at a live auction it is logged in our system with an inventory number and lot number assigned to that auction. You can pay without delay.

For online auctions, we download the winning bids into our system within 24 hours and email winning bidders an invoice. You will receive an invoice with each lot you won and the amount. We keep a record of your purchases and can print out your entire purchase history if you need it.

Visit our website www.BlackandGoldAuctions.com and look at upcoming auctions. You can also find us on FaceBook! We post our weekly auctions and some photos every week.

A fast-paced auction is one of the most efficient ways of converting property and assets into cash. With the combination of pre-sale marketing and the auctioneer’s attention-getting chant, you could have enthusiastic, attentive buyers aggressively competing to purchase your property.

Auctions are exciting and fun! Auctions exhilarate and captivate everyone, from the opening call of “Would you bid?” to the call of “Sold!”. There’s a thrill in the air as potential buyers find something they want and set out to successfully bid against others who want the same thing. Auctions bring out the competitive nature in all of us!

We have auctioneers and experts on staff with years of experience and specialized knowledge to get you top dollar for your property.

To our valued customers that have or are inquiring about firearms in the auction. Please know that we have filed for our FFL and unfortunately are at the mercy of the ATF and can give no timeframe at this time. As we learn more information we will continue to update the website to reflect when we will be able to start accepting and auctioning off Firearms again. Until we have our FFL, we are still able to accept ammunition and accessories. We are more than happy to add your name to our wait list for contact after we receive our FFL or we have enough interest to take on an outside FFL.

Everything sells at an auction! Well, not everything, but almost. We sell antique and modern furniture, small and large appliances, household items, cars, trucks, guns, coins, jewelry, lamps, and so much more! Just ask us and we can find someone who wants it.

Yes. We do our best to weed out items that cannot be repaired and that should be discarded. When you bring items to the auction we ask that it be in good condition. You will get the most money for items that are in good working condition and that are clean. Antiques are sometimes the exception.

Clothing (unless vintage or specialty) does not sell and we suggest donating clothing to your local charity. Pressboard furniture, older box TVs, food, and computer monitors are other items that people do not want to buy.

Whether you have one item or a whole house full, you can convert your items to cash through the weekly consignment auction. Black and Gold Auctions hosts Weekly Wednesday Auctions every week, year round, unless noted for an event or holiday that would greatly disrupt the listing or pick-up process.

Yes! Each job is different and requires different services, so if you would like a quote, please reach out to us at sell@blackandgoldauctions.com. We can work with you depending on your needs.

You can also bring your items to us. Please contact the offices before bringing any items for auction, there are some things that we just cannot sell. Our email is sell@blackandgoldauctions.com and our phone number is 573-445-7333.

We are happy to discuss any item you have.

We are an absolute auction that sells items to the highest bidder regardless of price. There are some exceptions that are put in place in writing as an agreement between the seller and the auction house. The reserve will be advertised, though the amount of the reserve will not be public knowledge.

We typically run items through auctions within 1 to 2 weeks after we receive them. Upon receiving items, we do our best to get them in the next auction.

Each auction is different and we do our best to get your items in the right auction where they will bring the most money. Sometimes that can take awhile, but if you are in a hurry to liquidate, we can work within your timeline. We have more than one option for auctions.

The weekly consignment auction has the quickest turnaround time, specialty auctions take longer, and we like to advertise real estate and live estate auctions for longer periods.

We only charge advertising cost with real estate auctions. We won’t charge for any other auction advertising costs.

We make our money by charging a commission on what we sell at auction. Rest assured, we will try to get the best price for you. Our commissions are based on the items you are selling and how we sell them.

Our auction services include all advertising (except on real estate), equipment, our facility if required, and marketing. We will never charge you for the use of our building, tables, auction software, photographs, or design of marketing materials.

Remember that each auction is different so the commission will vary. We will work that all out before we auction your items so you know what you will be charged.

For the Wednesday Weekly auctions, Consignment checks are written 10 days after the closing of the auction and mailed. For all other auctions that are likely to NOT end on a Wednesday, there is a 15 day window before the checks are written and mailed.

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is be the highest bidder on the lot in question and pay for the item. It is very important to be sure you are ready to part with your property before you hand them over to us.

No! We will handle all the details. For online auctions, you can watch your items sell real time!

We use the leading software system in the industry to keep track of every item we auction to the highest bidder and every person that does business with us.

As a seller, we assign you a number. Each piece of property you consign is cataloged and assigned to your seller number and then given its own lot/inventory number for a specific auction.  At the end of an auction, we provide you a settlement report that lists each item’s lot number, description, and what the lot sold for at auction as opposed to a lump sum. We keep a seller history with everything we have ever auctioned for you in our system and can access it if the need arises later.

What Our Clients Say

BA

Thank you so much for responding to my e-mail request on Friday, concerning Saturdays auction of Native American artifacts. With this information, I was able to add many high end and relatively rare points to a life-long collection. Being that the auction was not held hundreds of miles away requiring long distant travel was an added plus! Your staff was extremely courteous and professional in every detail. Thanks so much.

BP

Wow! Thank you, thank you for the magnificent packing job you did with my order. Everything arrived in perfect condition. This was a huge relief for me, as I have had damage to the comics I purchased through the last three Proxibid auctioneeers. This was a wonderful exception that broke this unpleasant streak.

All items arrived yesterday, and I have just finished checking everything in. This was a massive job, and I really appreciate your extra effort to protect these comics.

Please add me to your mailing list, and, if you ever have any other comics planned for a future auction, please let me know. You have a loyal customer.

Michelle H.

I've had nothing but positive results from this company. And I have bought A LOT! New owner is friendly as well as the staff. Look forward to doing more business with them. Happy bidding!

DM

I don’t know how often you get thanked for what you do, but I want to do just that – thank you!  They are patient all the way through to the end of each auction and you treat your customers that are unable to spend the “big bucks” (like me) just as well as you treat the big spenders! I enjoy attending your auctions.

Michael B of Booneville

Adam is amazing. He is a great guy and good looking also.

M & M

We recently had a downsizing auction conducted by Black & Gold Auction.  We selected Black & Gold Auctions from three other auction companies we interviewed.
They are very professional and take care of every detail. They are a fair and company with all terms of the auction with both the buyer and seller.

If you are looking for to have an auction, Black and Gold is a great choice.

Mr. & Mrs. Jamieson

My wife Cindy and I have recently downsized selling our home of 16 years.  We had collected way too much stuff over the years and we were in the need of help with the process of moving and the dispersement of all that we had collected but no longer had need.  Quite frankly we also ran out of time.  That’s where Black and Gold Auctions came in to play.  They moved our stuff in less than a day, which was more than a stress relief, and also allowed us to make money back from all the things that had value but no longer the space to take with us.  Our move wouldn’t have happened without the services that Black and Gold provided.

CD

The purpose of this letter is to thank you for all you and your team did to help me work through a difficult situation. Living in a different state without any family in the area, I was truly at a loss of how to manage this process. The moment I contacted you, my burden lightened. You provided guidance and recommendations on the most expeditious manner in which to liquidate items while helping me distribute personal memorabilia to family members. Throughout the entire process, I felt like I had a friend looking out for us. The auction was well organized and obviously, very well attended. The revenue generated was greater than anticipated and will assist with other expenses. I wish you the very best of luck.
